Black Diamond X2 Steel Toe Leather Firefighter Boots have the fire protection you expect in fire boots, as well as numerous comfort features to support you on the job. These are the boots you want as part of your turnout gear. Black Diamond is the only brand in the industry to be certified by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and receive the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Approval.
Protection first. The leather on the firefighters boots is FireTuff flame-retardant, waterproof, heavyweight leather. The fusion upper of the flame-resistant boots is Fusion fabric made of Nomex®/ Kevlar® and Teflon®.
Beyond heat and water, your boots are ready to resist impacts thanks to the steel toe. There are also toe and heel guards that resist abrasions as you push past obstacles, and reinforced shin guards on the 14-inch boots for added protection. The rubber outsole is oil-resistant and slip-resistant to aid in sure footing on smooth, wet and slippery surfaces and to help keep oil on the ground, not soaked into the bottoms of your boots.
This fire gear has a CROSSTECH® membrane with Omaha lining, as well as Kevlar lining.
Now, let's talk comfort. Firefighter boots can be comfortable in addition to keeping you safe. Black Diamond firefighter boots have this covered. Every pair of X2 boots can be custom fit to three widths: medium, wide, and extra wide. The anatomically-shaped oblique toe box allows room for the forepart to spread reducing fatigue. A 3-point heel-locking system helps keep your heel in place inside the boots. A steel shank provides foot support while an Ortholite® 3-density, multi-fit, removable footbed with a TPU heel cradle provides excellent comfort as you stand, walk and do your job.
Strobel lining construction ensures no liner pull-out for maximum fit and comfort, and the boots have anti-odor control: you're going to be sweating in your gear and can wear your boots for hours at a time; let's cut down on the stink.

Protective Toe
Impact testing determines the amount of protection to the toe under various foot pounds of force. Compression testing determines the amount of static pressure a steel/composite toe cap can withstand. Our boots are I75/C75
Electrical Hazard
Footwear is built with nail-free construction using steel composition toe caps to help insulate you from the ground retard conduction, but is not intended to be primary protection against electric shock. Leather footwear must be dry. Our electrical hazard boots meets and exceeds ASTM F2413-05 electrical hazard standards.
Puncture Resistant
PR footwear reduces the possibility of sharp objects (nails, glass or metal) penetrating through the outsole causing injury to the foot. Protection is provided by a steel or puncture resistant material imbedded in the insole of the footwear.
